Main job function
Seeking a highly skilled and motivated Production Engineer to join their dynamic hardware team. The successful candidate will coordinate data transfer between suppliers and developers, ensure effective communication on critical issues, support development and R&D procurement, produce cost estimates, update data packs, conduct testing, debugging, and contribute to the design and optimization of production procedures and equipment.
Qualifications
BTech Degree / Advanced Diploma in Electronic / Mechatronic / Mechanical / Industrial Engineering.
2-3 years’ experience in an electronic assembly production environment;
Familiarity with production procedures and documentation;
Familiarity with an industry-standard ERP, ideally Odoo;
Knowledge of verification procedures (ATP, HTP, QTP) is desirable; and
Mechanical design skills and experience with packaging artifacts are advantageous.
Ability to learn fast and absorb new information quickly;
Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate on large projects;
Ability to work independently;
Strong problem-solving skills; and
High standard of communication skills in English (both verbal and written).
Criteria
Industrialise hardware designs for production, ensuring that all design aspects are optimized for scalability, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness, while addressing any technical challenges that may arise during the transition from design to production;
Serve as the primary liaison between suppliers and developers, ensuring seamless communication on critical issues, particularly engineering design changes and production adjustments;
Support procurement activities for development and R&D, working closely with suppliers and internal teams to align procurement needs with design and production goals;
Generate and update cost estimates for development and production activities, contributing to accurate budgeting and financial forecasting;
Develop, maintain, and update production data packs, including detailed manufacturing data and procedure documentation, ensuring product owners are kept informed and data packs remain current;
Create and manage packaging materials and documentation as required for production and shipment;
Review and enhance production procedures, actively contributing to the optimization of processes and documentation from a manufacturing perspective;
Develop and implement verification procedures, such as Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP), Hardware Test Procedures (HTP), and Qualification Test Procedures (QTP), ensuring all production-related documentation and manuals are accurate and up-to-date;
Assist in the design and production of test equipment, tools, and production aids, ensuring they meet the requirements for efficient manufacturing processes;
Train and familiarize production staff with new products, tools, and processes, ensuring a smooth transition from design to production;
Identify opportunities for process and product improvements, promoting Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to enhance efficiency and product quality; and
Perform minor support roles within the company, as required.
Remuneration: R360 – R420 per annum
