Main job function
- Responsible for transacting a renewable energy project from origination to financial close including negotiating power purchase agreements, lender agreements, and other project documents.
- Managing tenders and proposals to secure offtakers and opportunities
- Collaborate and coordinate with the finance, ESG and technical teams
- Lead the PPA process to signature and cp fulfilment
- Manage and lead due diligence for pipeline and project acquisitions
- Negotiate lender mandates through to financial close and CP fufillment
- Prepare and present presentations at investment committee
- Manage and nurture relationships with stakeholders such as lenders, funders, offtakers and public partners
- Lead the project financial model and its audit
- Contribute to business development strategy, product development in conjunction with the Executive team
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in finance, engineering, law or other applicable field
Criteria
- minimum 3 years of experience in the renewable energy industry, specifically relating to financial close of utility scale projects and/or PPA negotiation
- REIPPP experience is advantageous but not a mandatory requirement
- able to demonstrate an understanding of renewable energy technologies, market dynamics, and regulatory frameworks in South Africa
- Strong understanding of the Project Finance framework in South African renewable energy transactions
- Financial modelling experience and understanding of key inputs and the impact on project economics
