CORE PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The primary purpose of the High Availability (HA) Administrator in the banking sector is to ensure the uninterrupted and reliable operation of critical banking systems and services. This includes designing, implementing, and maintaining HA solutions that minimize downtime, protect against data loss, and ensure business continuity. The HA Administrator plays a vital role in maintaining the bank’s operational resilience and compliance with regulatory requirements.
MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Design and Implementation of HA Solutions
Develop and implement high availability and disaster recovery strategies tailored to banking operations.
Configure and manage HA clusters, failover systems, and load balancing for critical banking applications.
Ensure redundancy and reliability of core banking systems, including online banking, transaction processing, and customer databases.
System Monitoring and Maintenance
Continuously monitor the health and performance of HA systems using advanced monitoring tools.
Perform regular maintenance tasks, including updates, patches, and system health checks.
Conduct regular failover tests and disaster recovery drills to ensure system readiness and compliance with regulatory standards.
Technical Support and Troubleshooting
Provide advanced technical support for issues related to HA systems, ensuring quick resolution to minimize downtime.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues affecting HA systems.
Collaborate with other IT teams to address cross-functional issues and ensure overall system stability.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain comprehensive documentation of HA configurations, procedures, and policies.
Prepare and deliver regular reports on HA system performance, incident response, and compliance status.
Document all incidents, resolutions, and changes to HA systems for audit and review purposes.
Support
Develop user manuals and instructional materials.
Work closely with IT operations, security, and infrastructure teams to integrate HA solutions with other IT functions.
Coordinate with vendors and service providers for the procurement, maintenance, and support of HA- related hardware and software.
Participate in IT department meetings and contribute to strategic planning and decision-making processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, ITIL Foundation) are advantageous
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Previous experience in managing high availability systems in a banking or financial services environment (preferred).
Hands-on experience with HA technologies and disaster recovery planning.
KNOWLEDGE
Proficiency with HA technologies and solutions (e.g., clustering, load balancing, failover systems).
Strong understanding of banking systems, databases, and network infrastructure.
Experience with disaster recovery planning and implementation.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and best practices for HA in the banking sector.
