Quality Supervisor – SSQS

Main job function

 

Job Purpose: 

1.) To ensure the specified quality standards and the defined inspection frequency of components are always followed and met.

2.) To ensure that when standards are not met to stop production and ensure decisions are made quickly regarding whether parts should be reworked, or production stopped, as per the STOP, CALL, WAIT procedure.

1.1.    Pre-shift

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ensure previous shifts non-conformances have been quarantined and removed from the system.

Ensure that visual management boards allocated to Quality Control are updated and in good condition.

Allocate resources and ensure safety requirements are being met by inspectors.

1.2.    Shift activities Shop floor patrol to ensure:

First offs are available on machine.

Patrol inspection sheets are available, and frequency of inspection is being met.

Ensure last offs are available for all jobs that have been completed.

All dunnage is correct as per WI and properly identified.

Sign off patrol inspection sheets.
Ensure correct PPE is being worn and good housekeeping practices are taking place.

Ensure basic quality standards/ practices are being followed.

1.3.    Training and Development  Train new inspectors, develop and update Skills matrix.

Multiskilling existing inspectors.

·Ensure OJT requirement for training needs analysis is met for each inspector and trainee.

1.4.    Control of non-conforming parts Ensure all non-conforming parts are identified with hold labels and moved to quarantine area throughout the shift.

Ensure that all non-conforming parts are being stored in the correct bin prior to the daily scrap meeting with QC Manager.

Ensure that all rework taking place by production is controlled through part identification, rework procedure and WI and good and no good samples.

Meet with QC Manager and relevant department inspectors daily to determine which parts need to be scrapped or reworked.

Ensure non-conforming parts are included in scrap register for each department and update the relevant board.

1.5.    Supervising responsibilities Enforce the company rules and adhere to the IR procedure to deal with misconduct.

Understand and enforce the policies and procedures in the company relevant to your department.

Understand and implement the company QMES requirements.

Ensure visual management boards in the department are updated regularly for scrap and SDR.

Follow the escalation procedure to the QC Manager.

Provide regular daily updates on shift problems to the QC Manager at the set times.

Ensure all CAR, PFUS and improvement activities allocated to you, or your subordinates are completed on time.

Submit O/T approval document to QC Manager as required.

Address subordinate’s payroll queries with HR department.

2.1.    Standards, Procedures & Administration ·         Ensure compliance with all Company standards and procedures.

·         Ensure all administration and documentation are presented neatly and professionally.

 
2.2.    Safety, Health, Environmental & Housekeeping ·      Adhere to all laid down Company safety policies & the OHS Act.

·      Report all unsafe equipment.

·      Always wear all PPE.

2.3.    Budgets ·        Ensure an understanding of the departmental budget, as may be applicable, and ensure a practice of cost control.
2.4.    Reporting ·        Ensure accurate and timely reporting as may apply to the respective KPAs for the position.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Matric, Diploma or degree in engineering, diploma or degree in Quality or operations management, Quality core tools (PFMEA, MSA, PPAP, SPC, APQP & CP
3 years’ experience in quality or process engineering in automotive, 3 years’ experience high volume manufacturing environment automotive quality control.  QC team leader experience in a manufacturing environment
